The scientific research of aging has always been associated with the research of cell aging.
Even at the greatly simplified cell level (such as the research of skin cells and their limited regenerative capabilities), the knowledge of aging remains miniscule and there are many hypotheses which oftentimes counteract one another.
For instance, Szilard’s mutation hypothesis postulates that DNA helixes gather in cells, which could potentially lead to chromosome deactivation and cell death.
Other studies speculate that aging is caused by an accumulation of errors in the production of RNA or progressive errors in protein synthesis.
