With its velvety, caramel-like flavor, cherimoya is related to some of the sweetest fruits in the world.

Unlike common sweets, however, this fruit is packed with precious, healthy substances.

Cherimoya is native to South America, where it grows mainly in the Andean valleys of Ecuador and Peru. It was grown extensively by the Inca people, who planted it mostly in subtropical,  ountainous areas.

Today, the plant is mostly grown in Mediterranean-like climates. Cherimoya is an evergreen, low branched tree or shrub growing up to 20 ft / 6 m in height. Its bark is dark brown in color,
smooth when the tree is young and wrinkled when it’s old.
